So my vacation started at 2 in the afternoon and I am off until next Sunday/Monday, but there is no rest for the weary. I have been working on my first comic since last August I believe. I feel horrible that it has taken me so long, but with a full time job, a wife, a four year old and a needy dog I just don't have all the time necessary to stay on task. The only real time I have to draw is late at night while the world around me sleeps. Even then I am not able to stay up as late as is necessary bc I usually have to be at work between 9 and 12 in the morning. m It's really annoying bc I will be right in the groove of things and need to hit the sack, but none of that this week.
Now I am not making excuses for my lateness, I take full responsibility. I also know that I need to pick up my pace bc I read a tweet from C. B. Cebulski that said that comics need to be finished in a 6 week period. I will say that for my first legitimate project I took it on at a very busy time in my life, but they are all busy time. More on that later. Like having a kid there is no perfect time. I messaged my writer for 6 pages of sequentials over
www.conceptart.org , he messaged me back and said that he wanted my style for a 38 page novella, and I jumped on it.
Busy Times. thats's exactly what I was having at the time I took on this project. I had just started reading a book that J. Scott Campbell recommended over twitter. Drawn to Life: 20 Years of Disney Master Classes Volume 1, I made it half way through it before I abandoned ship to immerse myself in the comic. I highly recommend it to everyone. Another plus to this taking so long is that I have learned so much over the course of things, bc it's always a learning process. I just recently had something pointed out to me about my art tat I never could put my finger on, thanks Shono. In closing, while it bothers me that it has taken so long, I fully belive that the comic has benefited from the time. Everyone wish me luck, it's going to happen, I can feel it, boom baby.
